Dear Friends, I live in Panama, in the jungles of Panama to be more exact where most people never had enough money to even think about a bank account. Where people live in one-room huts with dirt floors and thatched roofs. Where mothers and fathers can't afford $5.00 to buy worm medicine for their kids because they don't have $5.00. It is a jungle where snake bites kill in ten minutes. Where the common means of transportation is either walking or horse-back. It is a jungle where thousands of people eke out a subsistent living on the very barest necessities of life. There is no doctor for hours and hours away - no electricity, and in most places, no running water. You have heard of these places before, and this is where I live. This is where people are asking me, "Can you please help us grow food? Can you please help us with the drinking water contamination problems? Will you teach us how to build a decent house? Will you please help us buy worm medicine?" And I say to them, "Yes, but only if others can help me do it." Yes, I know I can help because I know you care and can help too. You can help me help them. In the name of those who hunger, I thank you. Fr. Walter Kasuboski Tax deductible checks may be made out to Capuchin Missions and sent to: Note on check
